Coach-Mentoring for MBI Coaches
Do's and Don'ts, Please & Thank You's
Please show up on time for calls.
Remember during CTC, that time when you could hear someone doing their dishes, or their car blinkers signaling a left-hand turn? Please don't do that.
Be prepared to coach and thank you in advance for volunteering to be coached.
Have questions ready to be asked. Ask them. It's what makes things work.
It's totally fine to be nervous, or to have feelings come up during the calls. All parts of you are welcomed. The good, bad and ugly so long as you take responsibility for it.
Everything said on the calls, stays on the calls. Yeah?
That means recordings are for your ears only.
Sometimes we get triggered. That's just the nature of things. But let's all assume good intent and agree to voice concerns if and when we have them.
This is not a MBI program nor am I an employee of MBI. Myself and the other instructors for MBI are outside contractors who happen to be MBI Master certified coaches. In this space, I have the freedom to diverge from standard MBI practices and likely will. Still, our focus shall largely draw upon your LCT experience and content and seek to move you toward your certification (if that's a goal of yours).
I will not work harder than you.
Did he just say that?
Yes, he did! I come from a long line of mentors and elders who happily and lovingly took me to the edge of my skill and awareness and helped me to expand that edge. But they never worked harder than I did. But they would always be willing to go as far as I was willing to go. I choose to follow their example because it works.
Please understand that I go where I believe we need to go and I often follow unexpected opportunities to learn. This is how I teach. This is how I coach. It requires flexibility, adaptability, and faith in the unseen and trust in my intuition. I hope you'll join me. Again, I do this because it works.
Finally, my primary intention for this you and this group is to help you build upon multiple aspects of your coaching skills. By this I mean your technical proficiency as well as the meta-skills of listening, noticing, tracking, and intuiting - The art of coaching if you will.
Please spend sometime with the following questions. Then, email me your answers no later than January 4th.
Please write "Pre-work Answers and your Name" in the subject line. Feel free to have your answers in a word doc or right in the email. Whatever is easiest for you. Thank you.
Again, welcome aboard. I'm very happy and grateful that you decided to step into this circle. If you have any questions or concerns before our first call, please email me at Michael@sagefireinstitute.com. I will send a reminder email before our first call but just in case, please bookmark this page so you have access to the number.
Until the 8th...
